Los Angeles Class Submarine Models
The Los Angeles class is a group of nuclear-powered fast attack submarines used by the United States Navy. A total of 62 submarines were built from 1972 to 1996, with 23 of them upgraded to the 688i standard. These submarines are known for their speed and ability to attack enemy targets. They are also capable of conducting a wide range of other tasks, including intelligence gathering, special operations, and missile launches. Many of these submarines have served for more than 40 years, with 12 of them being retired halfway through their expected lifespan. Two of the Los Angeles class submarines, the La Jolla and the San Francisco, have been converted into moored training ships. These submarines are named after American cities, with the exception of the USS Hyman G. Rickover, which is named after the "father of the nuclear Navy." These names were chosen as a departure from the traditional practice of naming attack submarines after marine animals.
