Fairey Gannet AEW.3 Model
The Fairey Gannet AEW.3 was a anti-submarine aircraft that was designed to serve as an airborne early warning (AEW) platform on Royal Navy aircraft carriers. It was introduced in 1959 as a replacement for the outdated Douglas Skyraider and was intended to be a temporary solution until a new, specifically designed AEW aircraft could be developed for use on the planned CVA-01 carriers. However, neither the CVA-01 carriers nor the new AEW aircraft were ultimately built, and the AEW.3 continued to be used until 1978, when the last carrier capable of operating it was retired.
