A-7 Corsair II Model

LTV A-7 Corsair II

The LTV A-7 Corsair II was a carrier-capable subsonic light attack aircraft developed by Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) to replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. It was designed to be a smaller version of the supersonic Vought F-8 Crusader, and was initially used by the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. The Corsair II was later adopted by the United States Air Force, including the Air National Guard, to replace the Douglas A-1 Skyraider and North American F-100 Super Sabre. The aircraft was also exported to Greece and Portugal. The Corsair II was known for its versatility and effectiveness in a variety of roles, including close air support, interdiction, and air superiority. It was equipped with a variety of weapons, including bombs, missiles, and machine guns, and was capable of operating from both aircraft carriers and land bases. The Corsair II was in service for more than three decades, and was eventually retired in the 1990s. A handcrafted wooden model of the A-7 Corsair II can make a unique and meaningful gift for an aviation enthusiast or a veteran who flew this aircraft.
