Ohio Class Submarine Models

The Ohio Class Submarine is a type of nuclear-powered submarine used by the United States Navy. These vessels serve as a stealthy launch platform for intercontinental missiles, carrying up to 24 submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) with multiple, independently-targeted warheads. However, under the New Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty, four missile tubes on each  submarine will be permanently deactivated. The SSBN's primary weapon is the Trident II D5 missile, which has a longer range and greater accuracy than the Trident I C4 missile it replaced. Ohio submarines are designed for extended deterrent patrols and have three large-diameter logistics hatches to facilitate rapid transfer of supplies, equipment, and components during maintenance. This helps increase their operational availability. The Ohio Class design allows these submarines to operate for 15 or more years between major overhauls, with an average deployment of 77 days at sea followed by 35 days in port for maintenance. Each SSBN has two crews, Blue and Gold, that alternate manning the submarine and going on patrol. This allows for maximum strategic availability, reduced numbers of submarines needed to meet strategic requirements, and proper crew training, readiness, and morale. Our wood Ohio Class Submarine models are handcrafted and handpainted, providing a unique and memorable display piece. These models are expertly crafted and make for a perfect addition to any collection.
