HSL-32 “Invaders” – A Legacy of Service

Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light 32 (HSL-32) was established on August 17, 1973, at Naval Air Station Norfolk, Virginia. The squadron was formed from a core group of personnel from HSL-30 and became a critical component of the U.S. Navy’s anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and maritime operations.

Initially, the Invaders were equipped with four SH-2D and four SH-2F Seasprite helicopters, part of the Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System I (LAMPS I) program. These helicopters provided vital surveillance, reconnaissance, and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, protecting naval vessels from underwater threats.

For over two decades, HSL-32 played a key role in fleet defense, participating in numerous deployments and maritime operations. The squadron was known for its tactical expertise and commitment to excellence before being officially disestablished in 1994.
